I am in this area to go buy a new Mountain bike. I havn’t had one in a while. I used to ride give of trails, and some roads.. I forgot what I had, a iron Horse Top 3 or something. a $1,000 bike or so.

Anyways when I go spend only $500-$700, I want my 29th or 24th gear to be very high. My legs are strong, and I like to cruise quick, but pedaling hard. of course that has to do with the number of teeth on the cassette for that agreed gear.

When I go look around, what do I look for? I got a low-cost mountain bike with X amount of teeth on it’s 21st gear, can I just compare my new bike’s teeth to this low-cost one?

mountain bike sales I need a cheap bike recommendations?
I’m a college student and need to get a bike to ride around campus, it seems like most people here have mountain bikes. Unfortunately, my budget’s only in this area $150 bucks, or even less. There are a few bikes at walmart that I could get, but I’ve been reading terrifying things in this area walmart bikes on the internet. Do you reckon a low-cost bike from walmart would be OK for riding around campus? Or do you have a recommendation on where to buy a low-cost one?

I have this real low-cost mountain bike from Walmart and the rear hub seems to either need adjustment or needs to be replaced. How much would this cost if I took it to a bicycle repair shop for a low-cost mountain bike?

Trek 4500 for $450 (no disc brakes). He told me this model was an entry level model. I want to buy a excellent durable bike. Is paying the extra $150 worth it?

I am trying to get a mountain bike for this summers use. I am looking to ride on somewhat rough trails, and I am new to buying step of getting into mountain biking. I am told that buying is something you have to take some time with and look carefully. I am not trying to find a bike for $1000 plus, I would rather have someone let me in on some mountain bike secrets and help me find a decently priced bike. Any bike warehouses with low-cost deals? Anything would help.
