I recently got back in mountain biking and its in this area time i start in a helmet before something terrible happens.I like the looks of the skateboarding style of helmet, and im not thrilled with the looks of the fixed mountain bike helmets,do people ever wear the skating helmets on mountain bikes? I realize the looks are not whats vital but if i dont like the way it looks i probably wont end up in it.I am not doing much extreme stuff on the bike so i dont need a full face helmet. can anyone suggest a helmet or any info to help me out, thanks a lot

Don’t use skating helmets for bikes, they’re made differently.

They have helmets for everything, I reckon the Brentwood is for bikes.
Really, skate helmets give even better protection than skate style or fixed bike helmets. The huge conundrum is that for biking skate helmets don’t give much ventilation, so you’ll sweat a lot more.
Bike helmets are calculated as a a compromise between protection and weight, skate style bike helmets are still leaning toward the weight, skater helmets are aimed more for protection in repeated impacts.
Do not use a skate helmet for bicycling unless it has a CPSC bicycle helmet standard sticker in-side! You want the rating so you know it can handle the type of impacts you may encounter.
I wear a Gyro mountain helmet in the heat, a skater helmet in the cool weather, and a full-face Bell when the winter hits.
there lots of mountain bike helmets that look like skate helmets and as far as protection goes all helmets have to do the same cores so if some one tells you a $300 dollar helmets safer the the $50 dollar one they don’t know what there talking in this area. my Buddy works for Bell and has for 6 years what you pay for is style ,fit, air dams ,waight ext a . so go get what you want to wear man a helmets better then no helmet just make sure you get a excellent fit or it might do you no excellent when it comes time to place it to the test.Giro or bell maybe 661 there excellent places to start looking. excellent luck have fun and be safe..
